LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness and mental health. In addition to our college driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE everyday and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated in the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Speech- Language Pathologist at Legacy Early College is to screen scholars, diagnose speech/language disorders, and conduct therapy to reduce or eliminate speech/language disorders that interfere with the individual scholars’ ability to derive full benefit from Legacy’s academic offerings.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To conduct the identification program for students with speech disorders by screening referrals from teachers and parents and maintain current "at risk" and rescreen lists.
• To provide appropriate diagnostic services and placements for students with speech disorders.
• Hold conferences with parents, administrators, and classroom teachers to determine appropriate placement, yearly IEP goals, reevaluations, and staff-outs.
• Schedule and conduct therapy for students in the Speech/Language program.
• Complete quarterly progress reports.
• Maintain speech files and therapy logs.
• Coordinate Special Education Reviews (SER) procedures when a speech only student may need additional interventions or evaluations.
• Complete all forms and procedures required by the Medicaid Program for eligible students.
• Coordinate the speech therapy program in order for it to become an integral part of the school curriculum.
• Serve as a communication consultant for classroom teachers and parents.
• Provide in-services to school personnel concerning speech-language referrals
• Attend in-services/conferences to remain current on speech/language issues, maintain CEUs, evidence-based practice and federal and state due process guidelines.
• Complete the Expanded ADEPT Mentoring and Evaluation process as required to maintain good standing with SC DOE Certification.
• Develop and progress towards the successful completion of speech/language yearly professional goals
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Required: Bachelor’s degree
• Preferred: Master’s degree
• Required: LLR Speech Pathology license
• Required: South Carolina Teachers’ Certification for Speech/Language therapists
• ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence, preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred
Work Schedule
Therapists will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, on the 195-day (10 month school year) schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Breaks include: Fall (1 week), Winter (2 weeks), Spring (1 week) and Summers off.

Work Environment

Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
