Irrigation Specialist
To maintain and repair the automatic irrigation system for the golf course. To assist the Golf Maintenance Superintendent in various tasks of maintenance and repair.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Make rounds of the golf course every morning to determine watering needs for the day and check for broken lines and heads as well as take water meter readings.
• Check computer for water settings daily and change the settings if needed.
• Check pump and well pump; ensure that well pump keeps the lake(s) full.
• Make printout of watering for troubleshooting purposes and plan repairs to improve the water systems.
• Order necessary parts for repairs; perform a variety of repairs including broken lines, sprinkler heads, leaking valves, and broken wires; raise or lower sprinkler heads and valve boxes; report repairs to Golf Maintenance Superintendent/and or Assistant.
• Turn valves on manually to check sprinklers and drip system.
• Do daily on-site checks of water system and rain gauge to adjust water needs.
• Apply fertilizer where needed. Help assistant in application of fertilizers.
• Ability to perform all phases of golf maintenance and assist in the daily operations when needed.
• Must be able to work overtime on short notice.
• Maintains consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Maintain both a valid Arizona driver's license and clear driving record for insurance purposes.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, solving any irrigation problems. Helps supervise crew when needed.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years of increasingly responsible golf course irrigation experience,
• Including one year of experience in plumbing or electrical, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge/Experience with operations of an automated irrigation system
• Particularly Cirrus/Toro; backhoe, trencher and other irrigation equipment, basic electrical and plumbing procedures
• Knowledge/Experience of applications procedures and regulations governing fertilizers and pesticides.
Language/Communication Skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bilingual is preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pull, push, or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulders and talk or hear ability to taste and smell. Work is performed in outdoor conditions in all types of weather.
The employee is required to drive certain types of equipment to include utility carts and riding mowers. Use equipment such as grass rakes, grass blowers, hedge trimmers and walk behind mowers.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and must be able to tolerate extremely hot and cold outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The work environment is potentially hazardous. May come in contact with different fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outdoor weather to include extreme heat.
