OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION: This position is responsible for accepting or rejecting donations to the Thrift Store, processing donations (including cleaning, sorting, and/or disposal), recording information on donations, cleaning as required, and other work as assigned by the Thrift Store Manager. This position is also responsible for the training of new staff in the area of donations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Training new staff in the area of donations. Monitor backdoor donations by greeting, accepting, limiting, rejecting, directing, and recording articles brought to the Thrift Store. Clean and process donations. Keep backdoor and sorting area neat and organized to ensure safe working conditions and efficient processing of donations. Maintain a cordial working relationship with volunteers and coworkers. Represent Minnesota Valley action Council in a respectful and helpful manner to all donors and customers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work site is MVAC's AGAIN Thrift Store in Mankato. This position is classified as a regular employee. Mileage for work related-travel is reimbursed at the current rate. Maintains confidentiality according to Minnesota's Data Privacy Act and Agency policy. All employees are responsible for following established safety procedures. Head Start employees must have a satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical exam and a tuberculosis test. TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES: 25% Monitor backdoor donations by greeting, accepting, limiting, rejecting, directing, and recording articles brought to the Thrift Store. Assist donors by helping to lift and carry donations from their vehicle or inside the store. Provide donors with a tax deduction receipt when requested. Represent Minnesota Valley Action Council in a respectful and helpful manner to all donors and customers. 40% Clean and process donations. Keep backdoor and sorting area neat and organized to ensure safe working conditions and efficient processing of donations. 10% Train new staff in the area of donations. 5% Maintain a cordial working relationship with volunteers and coworkers. 5% Assist in cleaning sales floor, sorting area, break area and bathroom. 15% General Tasks and Responsibilities: Attend job-related seminars/workshops at the request/approval of supervisor. Represent the agency when requested to do so. Complete your own employee timesheets and expense sheets in accordance with established MVAC policies. Follow agency policies, rules and regulations. Strong organizational, verbal communication, and customer service skills desired. Ability to work with a variety of people in a busy work environment required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS During your work hours you may be required to: lift up to 50 pounds, carry up to 50 pounds, reach above shoulder level, fine manipulation and simple and firm grasp, and be able to move quickly in case of an emergency.
