Position Summary
The Assistant Director For Teaching Engagement Will
• Design and facilitate instructional development programming, including workshops, course redesign institute sessions, consultations, mid-semester formative evaluations, and faculty mentor programs focused on active learning and evidence-based teaching strategies.
• Consult with individual instructors and academic departments on course design, evidence-based instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
• Develop and promote instructional resources (e.g., teaching guides, toolkits, and online resources) that support faculty in adopting effective and evidence-based teaching practices.
• Monitor and evaluate participation and progress towards the completion of CTL instructional development programs within this assistant director’s portfolio.
• Foster strong communication and collaborative relationships with the UGA instructional community and campus units to enhance awareness, engagement, and impact of CTL instructional development programs within this assistant director’s portfolio.
• Contribute to the strategic vision for enhancing active learning and evidence-based teaching across UGA through outreach, collaboration, and innovation in teaching development programs.
This position is Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with expectations for flexibility when needed to meet deadlines and provide support for the Center.

Additional Requirements
A terminal degree plus at least two years of experience of developing and facilitating programs for faculty – including but not limited to facilitating teaching workshops and/or learning communities, conducting teaching observations, and facilitating small group instructional diagnosis processes in a Center for Teaching and Learning or similar higher education unit.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• A demonstrated commitment to improving teaching based on existing research on teaching and learning.
• Knowledge of multiple and varied evidence-based teaching strategies and their application in the higher education classroom.
• Ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders, including faculty members, staff, administrators, and students.
• Ability to set goals and achieve outcomes in a timely fashion with little oversight.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills
• Knowledge of research on the use of active learning in higher educational settings
