About The College/Unit/Department
The Department of Educational Psychology has 25 full-time faculty and serves the college and university through courses and programs of study that support knowledge in (a) the psychological constructs associated with teaching and learning and (b) empirical methodologies. The department has four areas of emphasis: Applied Cognition and Development, Gifted and Creative Education, Quantitative Methodology, and School Psychology. We offer graduate degrees at the masters (MA, MEd), specialist (EdS) and doctoral (PhD) levels as well as two undergraduate minors in Personal Health and Wellbeing and Educational Psychology.
The Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFECOE), one of the nation’s largest colleges of education, consistently ranks in the top ten national Elementary Education and Curriculum and Instruction programs. The College offers significant possibilities for interdisciplinary research collaborations, program development, and school-community partnerships. The college’s Research Office provides strong pre- and post-award grant support. The College is named for the University of Georgia’s first African American graduate, a pioneering educator who played an integral role in the campaign for racial equality in Georgia and across the South. The department and college are recognized leaders in developing partnerships with local communities and schools to provide pre-service and in-service professional development, and to expand students’ experiential learning and service-learning opportunities.

• A terminal doctoral degree in Educational Psychology or a related field with a content area specialization in Gifted and Creative Education.
Position Summary
The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time clinical assistant professor to serve in the Gifted and Creative Education (GCE) Area of Emphasis to begin Fall 2025.
Responsibilities include all of the following and other related assignments:
• Teaching online and in-person graduate-level courses in the Gifted and Creative Education state educator certificate/endorsement and graduate degree programs (MEd and EdS)
• Supervising practicum and internship experiences for graduate students enrolled in GCE area of emphasis
• Advising graduate students in the GCE program area
• Serving on students’ advisory and examination committees
• Engaging in departmental, college, university, community and/or professional service
Additional Requirements
Required Qualifications
• A minimum of 3 years of K-12 teaching experience, particularly in gifted education classrooms in the United States
• Eligibility for teacher certification in the state of Georgia
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Preferred Qualifications
• Established record of expertise in designing, developing, and delivering professional training using online learning technologies (e.g., conference presentations, workshops, in-services) for practitioners in the field
• Proven history of successful graduate course delivery in an online format as a teaching assistant or instructor of record
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: social and emotional development, curriculum and instructional practices, identification and assessment, or twice-exceptionality.
