Sports Coordinator
Overview
Under the supervision of the Sports Director, the Sports Coordinator will assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all youth and adult sports, and outreach programs. The Sports Coordinator will provide a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Responsibilities
• Assist with the implementation, development, and monitoring of all sports leagues, recreation programs, sports, summer sports camps, clinics, and outreach programs.
• Monitor and maintain proper facility/field conditions and pregame facility/field preparations.
• Assist with the implementation of program marketing materials.
• Assist with management of budget.
• Assist in recruiting volunteers for coaching and seasonal volunteers.
• Assist in keeping field, facilities, storage areas and offices clean, neat, and organized.
• Create teams from registrations. Develop team practice and game schedules.
• Participate in orientation meetings and training clinics for coaches and officials.
• Responsible for updating records.
• Alert the director of any problems as they occur.
• Fill out and file all necessary reports in a timely manner.
• Relate positively to members and potential members and portray a good customer service attitude.
• Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
• Help identify prospects and/or solicit monetary and other donations for the Annual Campaign or other fundraising or community events.
• Actively participate in staff leadership activities, meetings, and committee meetings.
• Assist with interviews and hiring of officials.
• Conduct surveys and write program summaries after each sports season or major event.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional conduct at all times.
• Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
• All other duties as requested.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
• Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
• Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
• Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
• May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
• Work in different temperature environments.

• College degree in physical education, sports management or related field, or equivalent education and/or work experience preferred.
• Experience building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
• Strong public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Present a professional image and possess excellent written and oral skills.
• Strong desire to work with children.
• Certifications: CPR/FA, within 30 days of hire
