Towson University is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of the Writing Center. This position is a twelve-month staff position, which reports to the Writing Center Director. The Writing Center is housed in its own suite in the Liberal Arts Building and regularly provides over 12,000 tutoring sessions per year. The successful candidate will work with the director to manage the day-to-day operations of the main Writing Center and its satellite location in the Cook Library.

Assistant Director of the Writing Center
Recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and training undergraduate and graduate writing tutors; overseeing the reception desk staff; managing the center’s website; conducting writing center outreach and marketing to the campus community; assisting with student tutoring as needed; and collaborating with faculty and staff from other units regarding initiatives that support student writing.
Required:
• Master’s degree in rhetoric and composition or in a related field.
• A minimum of one year of experience working in a writing center as either a tutor or an administrator.
• A demonstrated commitment and ability to work well with a diverse group of students and faculty.
Preferred:
• Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition or in a related field.
• Experience with writing program administration, including supervising student employees and assessing writing center services.
• A strong track record of teaching college composition or other writing intensive courses.
• Experience teaching multimodal forms of communication (video production, blogging, visual presentations, screencasts, etc.).
• A demonstrated commitment to helping faculty, students, and staff navigate the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence provides in the context of college writing.
• Professional development and/or previous participation in writing center scholarship, conferences, and organizations.
