Job Description
Anticipated Salary: $72,000-85,000
Time Off Plan: 25 Days PTO. Additional Days Off: MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Week of July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wed-Fri), Winter Break (Dec. 24 - Jan. 1)
The HR Director position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Administrator maintains an effective level of business literacy about the school’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

• Meets weekly with school leadership
• Consults with Academic Administrators and other leaders, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
• Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
• Maintains organization chart and position management
• Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
• Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to school leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
• Works closely with school leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
• Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
• Administers leave and accommodations processes
• Manages annual review process
• Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
• Provides guidance and input on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
• Identifies training needs for school leaders and individual coaching needs.
• Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• High school diploma
• 4-7 years of HR experience
• Supervisory experience
• Experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
• Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• All clearances and background checks as required to work in a South Carolina public school
Preferred Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business, or related field
• SHRM or HRCI Certification
• Experience in human resources in an education setting
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This position has 1-3 direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Location
All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina.
This position is remote with the following travel expectations:
• Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester
• Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)
• May be asked to attend board meetings on a bimonthly basis
• Additional details on travel will be provided in the interview process
Additional Information
Non-certified staff are compensated based on a combination of education and relevant experience. We offer state health benefits and retirement through PEBA as well as deferred compensation through Empower and supplemental plans through Colonial Life.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
