Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Program Coordinator at Rock Eagle 4-H Center is responsible for the coordination of the 4-H Environmental Education program at the 4-H Center. These responsibilities include the hiring, training and supervision of staff, developing curriculum and teaching resources, maintenance of teaching facilities and promotion and coordination of the daily activities of the 4-H Environmental Education program. This individual works under direct supervision of the Center Director to ensure that over 15,000 participants in Environmental Education at Rock Eagle have a positive learning experience during their visit to the 4-H Center.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Extensive knowledge of Educational and Biological Sciences. Supervise and evaluate a staff of 5 Full-time employees up to 20 seasonal part-time employees. Effective in written and oral communications.
Willing to work frequent nights and weekends. Have the ability to develop web based, printed and other media presentations in order to promote the 4-H Environmental Education program.
Physical Demands
Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Walk 3 to 5 miles a day in carrying out their duties and often times during the rain. Work frequent nights and weekends in carrying out their supervision responsibilities in the 4-H Environmental Education Program. Driving.

Duties/Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the development of curriculum and class offerings for the Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education Program. Coordinates the field study trips for over 15,000 students attending Rock Eagle 4-H Center’s Environmental Education program with Area Coordinator.
Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of full-time and part-time seasonal staff, who serve as instructors in the 4-H Environmental Education program at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. Develops teaching schedules for seasonal part-time and full-time staff while the Environmental Education program is in session.
Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for the maintenance of laboratories and teaching resources at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, including the two Woodruff Aquatic Buildings, the Wildlife Ecology building, the Museum of Natural History, and the Scott History Site all of which have live animals and exhibits. Coordination of the High Ropes training program and coordinating the maintenance of those facilities at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities
Develops promotional materials such as brochures, videos and web based promotional materials in order to maintain and increase student enrollment in the 4-H Environmental Education program. Travels to school conferences and other Environmental Education related conferences to promote the 4-H Environmental Education program to potential users and to create greater awareness of the 4-H Environmental Education Program.
Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities
Directs the community and day use, Discovery, and Outreach programs offered by Rock Eagle 4-H Center throughout the year.
Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities
Works with other Rock Eagle Department Heads for the Environmental Education staff to provide assistance to other departments. Assists the 4-H Public Service Faculty Member for 4-H Camping with 4-H Summer Camping Programs activities at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
