Morgage Loan Orginator (MLO)
Description
As an MLO, you will serve members of MTC Federal by advising them on the best way to purchase or refinance their home and facilitate the origination of those loans. You will be expected to promptly respond to referrals generated through our marketing efforts as well as referrals generated by internal MTC Federal employees. A successful MTC Federal MLO will leverage these opportunities into external relationships and referral sources.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of consultative sales skills, personal service, the ability to serve members on their schedule, strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong commitment to the communities we serve.
Requirements
• Responsible for complying with all laws, statutes, rules and regulations which govern credit unions, including but not limited to all components of the Bank Secrecy Act provisions of the US Patriot Act
• Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives
• Performs job duties within credit union bylaws, regulations, policies, established internal and external performance standards
• Meet or exceed all performance measurables as assigned
• Through knowledge of the Credit Union’s policies, products and services
• Work with retail credit union employees to serve members throughout the mortgage process
• Track all mortgage leads in the company-provided lead management system
• Interview loan applicants to understand their needs, obtaining all information necessary to deliver a custom mortgage solution
• Analyze member's financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine the proper loan program and approvability
• Obtain, verify and examine loan application and verification documents for accuracy, obtain additional information as required for initial loan approval, including initial disclosures and intent to proceed.
• Submit complete and accurate loan application packages for approval
• Work with internal mortgage staff and external partners throughout the process to ensure timely and efficient mortgage closings.
• Attract new mortgage loan applications by leveraging successful closings into external referral sources
• Participate in marketing events and functions as needed
• Complete ongoing education and compliance training as assigned
• Maintain an active registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)
• Expert in MTC Federal lending philosophy and model and makes full and proper application of both
• All other duties as assigned
Experience
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education
• A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy.
