Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist in the construction industry, based just outside of Greenville, South Carolina. This role involves managing payroll and benefits processes, ensuring compliance with laws at various levels, handling employee relations, and maintaining employee files.
Responsibilities
• Process weekly payroll for staff, including timecard review, tax submissions, 401(k) contributions, and HSA entries using QuickBooks Desktop
• Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, life, and short-term disability plans, along with retirement and supplemental benefits
• Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including paperwork, compliance documentation, and system or device setup
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and labor regulations, updating internal processes as needed
• Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and leave policies
• Track and manage employee leave (FMLA, disability, personal leave), maintaining confidentiality and accurate records
• Collaborate with leadership to maintain and update internal HR policies and employee handbook in alignment with current labor laws
Requirements
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience processing payroll and administering benefits; QuickBooks Desktop proficiency required
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Familiarity with payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and benefit compliance standards
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
• Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information
