JOB SUMMARY:
Develops, implements, and assesses programming for the Clemson University Science Outreach Center. Monitors event registrations, coordinates preparation for events and implements STEM curriculum. Supervises student workers. Takes a leadership role in absence of the Assistant Director. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Educational and Supportive Programming:
Develops, implements, teaches, and assesses lab experiences designed to aid in meeting South Carolina K-12 science standards. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of K-12 national and state science standards and current teaching practices. Responsible for evaluating existing activities and developing new offerings. Integrates technology and hands-on learning into programming. Tracks event registration and engages in teaching STEM programs/activities to K-12 students and public. Stays within area budget when developing new curriculum.
20% - Essential - Lab Supervision
Organizes and maintains chemical, biological, and equipment inventory. Trains personnel on equipment and preparation of lab reagents. Oversees lab safety and PPE.
15% - Essential - Mentorship:
Attends regularly scheduled team meetings with staff including student workers. Acts as lead in team meetings when Assistant Director cannot attend. Discusses planning and organizing materials, time management strategies, and tracks completed assignments. Serves as a liaison for Assistant Director, providing regular updates on student-worker performance.
5% - Essential - Collaboration and Outreach:
Cultivates partnerships with state science education organizations, university departments, and community organizations to facilitate and promote programming.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience 1+ years of relevant program experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - in Science Education or a scientific discipline.
Work Experience 5+ years of teaching science

Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hours: 37.5
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $39,000 - $52,500
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
