Ministry Team Coordinator and Creative Director for Ministry Teams

Position Summary: The Coordinator and Creative Director for Ministry Teams aids the Associate VP for Student Ministries within the Department of Campus Ministries and Student Engagement (CMSE) in fostering a campus community that intentionally nurtures the Christian spiritual health of the NGU student. This position plays a key role in helping develop transformational leaders for church and society through the services and programs provided as part of the student ministry teams (Campus Band, Joyful Sound, and Act II). This person is expected to live in accordance with a Christian code of conduct and take a discipleship oriented approach to the role. This position is a 12-month, full-time with benefits position that reports directly to the AVP for Student Ministries and works closely with the other Student Ministries coordinators. This position is considered staff with adjunct responsibilities and may teach in the worship studies degree program.
Responsibilities
• Shepherd student leaders and ministry team members
• Disciple ministry team students with a focus on worship, and musical worship leadership
• Develop a theologically robust and stylistically appropriate repertoire for congregational singing and musical presentation.
• Lead rehearsals regularly for scholarship teams.
• Coach students in musicality, arranging, instrumentation, vocal technique and blend, and sound mix.
• Maintain and improve scheduling calendars for ministry teams
• Engage with local churches to assess requests, plan, and schedule outings
• Assist student ministry department in completing ministry aims (e.g., Fount, Global Impact Week, etc.)
• Collaborate with music faculty to develop musicianship of students, to create mutual awareness of scheduling, and to understand scholarship dynamics
• Collaborate with media team regarding equipment needs, setlists, reservation of rehearsal space, and best practices for improvement
• Manage budgets for ministry team travel and equipment
• Work with CMSE for departmental initiatives
• Maintain availability to assist ministry team mobilization, travel, and logistics
• Completes other tasks as assigned by the AVP for Student Ministries
• Teach and manage course load.
Physical Requirements
• Musical abilities: Read music and be able to play an instrument with chord charts. Sing sufficiently to teach and lead others.
• Visual Abilities: Read reports, create presentations, and use a computer system.
• Hearing: Hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and students.
• Dexterity, Grasping, Feeling, Write, Type, and use the telephone, copier, and computer systems.
• Mobility: Open files and operate office machines; move between departments and attend meetings across campus.
• Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Lifting, Pulling, Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in conditions.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position is a full-time position in Campus Ministries and Student Engagement and reports directly to the AVP Student Ministries. This position works closely with all other coordinators in the CMSE department along with the main operation areas of the University. Further, this position reports directly to the Chair of Contemporary Worship Studies, for content courses and hour load
WORK SCHEDULE
The Office of Campus Ministries and Student Engagement is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Summer hours may vary. Office hours are subject to change as deemed necessary. Occasional work on Saturdays and evenings may be required.
TRAVEL
Some travel may be required within the touring area of ministry teams and as assigned.

• A Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 hours of master’s level coursework in music-worship studies required.
• Experience with music technology is preferred (e.g., Ableton).
• Minimum of 3 years prior applicable experience required.
• Ability to professionally evaluate difficult circumstances, address conflict in Christ-centered manner, manage emotionality well. Exhibit healthy work-life boundaries and balance.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and problem solve with frequent interruptions.
• Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365; experience with database use preferred.
• Understand and comply with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
• Integrates Biblical standards within all assigned responsibilities and approaches student engagement from a Christian, ministerial approach.
• Ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to think creatively, improve current processes, and develop new initiatives.
• Desires to live beyond the job description to better the NGU community through Christian service and discipleship.
