Senior Accountant
Reports to: Finance Director
Location: Greer, SC
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with expertise in financial data analysis and special accounting projects. This position will be responsible for analyzing complex financial data, ensuring accuracy of financial records, and driving key accounting initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and contribute to strategic projects focused on maximizing profit margins.
Key Responsibilities:
• P&L Analysis and Reporting
• Maintain and build system tables and ad hoc reports to support internal decision making
• Analyze revenue trends, variances, and product profitability metrics to identify areas of improvement
• Develop and maintain product margin models to support pricing decisions and cost optimization initiatives
• Present findings and recommendations to Finance Director
• Transaction and Contract Management
• Review daily sales and bookings transactions for product margin indicators and trends
• Review open purchase orders for changes in vendor PO pricing and provide analysis to maximize reductions of cost
• Manage customer contract review process to verify fulfillment of financial terms
• Maintain compliance with internal processes for vendor and customer onboarding
• Perform contract review regarding vendor and customer onboarding
• Work with Finance Director to develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance
• Financial Reporting
• Support timely and accurate month-end close activities according to established deadlines
• Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses as requested by management
• Maintain a running monthly forecast file, working with Finance Director and business leaders on inputs
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
• Experience with product-based financial analysis and margin reporting
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Proactive problem-solving approach
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility
• CPA preferred but not required
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Frequently communicate within team and across departments who have inquires. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Occasionally required to lift up to twenty pounds.
• Must be able to detect product issues visually.
Work Environment:
• Distribution warehouse environment with multi-step order fulfillment processes across various stations and equipment.
• Primarily office-based setting within a distribution warehouse environment.
• Noise level: Ranges from moderately quiet in office area to high in warehouse area.
• Physical Requirement: May involve regular movement between office and warehouse floor requiring adherence to safety protocols.
