Position Overview:
As a Lead Major Component Exchange (MCE) Technician , you will play a key role in performing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs at heights of up to 400 feet. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols in dynamic and challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Lead to manage team cohesiveness and site communication.
• Identify training needs and foster growth within the team.
• Communicate directly with Site Managers and Project Managers.
• Perform major corrective repairs, including gearboxes, generators, and main shafts.
• Follow proper LOTO, torquing, rigging, and lift plan procedures.
• Conduct inspections of rigging, support equipment, and safety gear.
• Clean and organize tools and work areas up-tower and down-tower.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using schematics and test tools.
• Safely operate company vehicles onsite and offsite (meeting MVR requirements).
• Complete required documentation and checklists accurately.
• Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers, property owners, and team members.
• Direct and oversee day-to-day MCE team activities.
• Communicate effectively with customers, site representatives, and BHI management.
• Maintain thorough daily reports and ensure compliance with safety and site protocols.
• Train and mentor less experienced team members.
• Set and manage daily schedules for the team.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in major component exchange.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read block diagrams and schematics.
• Current GWO certification (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet MVR requirements.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
Additional Information:
• Work is performed in various weather conditions and at significant heights.
• Position requires flexibility with shift schedules and extensive travel (90% travel).
