We are looking for: As part of our production team, the Chemical Plant Operator ensures the proper functioning of systems and equipment while also verifying that chemical operations adhere to safety and quality standards. The primary responsibility of the Chemical Plant Operator is the daily operations of the Polymer, Solvent Recovery, and Utility areas of the site, with a readiness to support other areas as needed. We can count on you to: ● Operate all chemical processing equipment, including reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, boilers, piping networks, hoses, pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, scales, tanks, meters, etc. ● Conduct DCS operation to manipulate equipment controlled by the DCS. ● Split time 50/50 between field operation of equipment and control room operation. ● Maintain appropriate batch and shift paperwork. ● Maintain a clean and organized workplace, meeting established housekeeping standards. ● Collaborate effectively with peers in a self-directed environment while maintaining alignment with Supervisor. ● Provide assistance to other operators as required to take readings, monitor equipment, transfer materials and service equipment, and otherwise assist in training personnel. ● Take readings on equipment as required, monitor the process and equipment for proper operations, take samples as needed, and react to emergency conditions. ● Perform manual loading and unloading of materials or equipment as required ● Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting as required on process equipment. ● Prepare Work Orders for maintenance on the unit as needed and prepare the equipment for maintenance. ● Report any process upset, spill, injury, chemical release, security event, etc. ● Safely operate fork trucks ● Practice and participate in safety training and/or meetings, safely perform all activities required to successfully operate the unit, and take responsibility for the personal safety of others. ● Obtain a biological wastewater treatment plant operator ‘D’ license. Monitor the wastewater treatment process, perform lab testing, and adjust the process to comply with site and regulatory requirements. ● Work with engineers, production specialists, quality assurance technicians, distribution technicians, and other plant personnel to accomplish plant responsibilities safely and efficiently. You will bring: ● High school graduate or equivalent education. ● 3+ Years of experience in chemical plant operations. ● Knowledge of chemical processing equipment, including reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, boilers, piping networks, hoses, pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, scales, tanks, meters, etc. ● Perform DCS navigation, DCS troubleshooting, and DCS operation such that the process can be safely and efficiently controlled. ● Troubleshooting abilities to correctly identify causes of production equipment and process upsets. ● Perform all tasks that are required to operate the chemical processing unit at the facility. ● Prepare Work Orders as required to maintain and improve the operating units. ● Ability to clear, isolate, and prepare equipment for maintenance work. ● Ability to efficiently and accurately communicate and work with peers, superiors, engineers, and other unit personnel in a constructive manner. ● Basic PC skills required for electronic communications, maintenance work orders, incident/accident reporting, and access plant information. ● Ability to complete annual training and progression task lists as assigned. ● Ability to take process samples, interpret data, and make process adjustments within SOP. ● Knowledge of Process Safety Management ● Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule ● Capable of wearing a respirator and any additional required PPE on short notice ● 3+ Years of experience in chemical plant operations. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
