Since entering the USA in 2018, Brickworks have acquired Sioux City Brick, Redland Brick and the distribution business of Southfield Corporation in Illinois and Indiana (Illinois Brick, Indiana Brick). The combined North American business now has more than 1,000 employees, operates across 40 locations, including 9 brick plants, 1 manufactured stone plant, 26 masonry supply center/retail locations and 3 Design Studios.
Basic Function: The Financial Analyst role will have responsibility for aggregating and reporting on various Operations KPIs for both the manufacturing plants and retail locations. Responsibilities also include working with project managers and preparing CIP reporting, managing natural gas and electric purchases as well as usage tracking, and assisting the manufacturing plant and retail finance teams as necessary. In addition, this role will assist in the development of procedures and internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
Duties:
• Aggregate and report on various Operations KPIs involving sales, cost of goods sold, margin, labor and other operating costs and inventory
• Develop financial models as appropriate to support organizational decision making regarding the manufacturing plants and retail locations
• Assist the Finance Managers with annual budgets and forecast preparation
• Work with project managers to monitor and report on CIP as well as ensure timely capitalization for fixed assets
• Review and analyze monthly physical inventory variances and identify trends
• Manage the natural gas and electric purchases as well as usage tracking/analysis for the manufacturing plants and retail locations
• Support the function of master data management across the business to maintain data comparability and functionality
• Provide ad-hoc support to the Finance Manager – Retail & Ops Reporting as may be required
• Monitor and review internal accounting controls and implement changes where necessary to safeguard company assets
Education And Experience Requirements
• BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other appropriate area of study
• MBA or CMA preferred but not required
• Relevant experience (2-3 years) in a manufacturing or retail environment
• Well-developed analytical skills and experience in forecasting, budget preparation, and variance reporting preferred
• Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, takes pride in work output
• Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel, proficiency in other Microsoft Applications such as PowerPoint
• Experience with a larger ERP solution such as JD Edwards, SAP, or Oracle preferred
• Excellent communication skills and strong desire to learn and progress in an Operations Finance environment
• Must be willing to travel if necessary to assist manufacturing plant and masonry supply centers with physical inventories and review of controls
