Regional Inventory Control Manager
Overview
The Regional Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the coordination and management of all inventory control functions within a region. Will provide input and support to other facilities engaged in the inventory control process. This position will report to a Director of Warehouse Operations.
Responsibilities
Inventory Control
• Manages and maintains inventory as required by customer orders while minimizing inventory and carrying costs for assigned geographical region
• Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency
• Follow up to ensure compliance and consistency of policies and procedures surrounding inventory control and quality
• Will customize inventory procedures for each facility depending on WMS in place
• Oversees the WMS systems to ensure that all procedures are followed properly and in a timely fashion
• Oversees weekly cycle counts for accuracy
• Plans, executes and reconciles physical inventories
• Prepares analysis of adjustments activities report
• Researches to reconcile inventory discrepancies and to find root cause
• Manage and update weekly/monthly metrics for assigned facilities and region
• Assists in job related projects/start-ups as needed
Employee Relations/Development
• Partner with the senior on-site leadership teams to drive quality at all levels
• Teach and influence distribution managers and associates on the importance of Inventory Control & Quality Assurance
• Assist in the training and development of Inventory Control Managers and Supervisors by providing feedback, coaching, guidance and recognition
• Develop, execute and communicate daily, weekly and monthly action plans that improve quality, inventory accuracy and service within the region
• Manages and maintains good human resources practices with indirect reports, and adherence to established corporate and department policies and procedures
• Acts as a role model for the region in support of corporate mission, vision, and values
• Travels to other warehouses within the region and participates in department or company meetings, as necessary
• Exhibits a commitment to self-development by staying current on information, tools, and systems
• Attends industry related seminars as needed
Safety and Security
• Actively supports and participates in all safety initiatives in the region
• Recommends necessary improvements to procedures and facility to prevent re-occurring accidents
Qualifications
• High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 7-10 years working in Inventory within Distribution environment
• Experience managing with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), preferably Manhattan
• Strong analytical, mathematical or data analysis bias
• Exceptional technical competence with a proven capacity to become a subject matter expert (SME) within the given role
• Experience with Lean, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma tools
• Significant experience in Inventory & Quality Assurance Management, with the proven ability to show improvement in a continually developing environment
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suit including Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
• The ability to drive process improvement initiatives
• Must be flexible in adapting to changing environments
• Must be self-driven and willing to work with minimal supervision
• Travel up to 25%
• Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
• Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed by the customer
• Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
• Walking in the FC and around area with great frequency; some facilities are over a quarter mile in length
• Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variations and able to access all areas of building without limitations
