Job purpose
The HSE Technician II is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. This role involves conducting inspections, monitoring compliance, providing training, and assisting in incident investigations to mitigate risks and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety Inspections and Audits:
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with health,
safety, and environmental regulations.
• Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and ensure corrective actions to address
safety concerns are implemented.
Incident Investigation:
• Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents to determine
causes and contribute to the development of preventive measures.
• Prepare detailed reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Compliance Monitoring:
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.
• Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and advise on necessary adjustments to
policies and procedures.
Training and Education:
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including orientation for
new hires and refresher courses for existing staff.
• Promote safety awareness and encourage safe work practices.
Emergency Response Planning:
• Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and
procedures.
Risk Assessment:
• Perform risk assessments for new and existing processes, equipment, and facilities.
• Recommend control measures to reduce risks and enhance safety.
Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training activities,
incident reports, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare and submit regular safety reports to management.
Environmental Protection:
• Monitor and manage environmental impact by ensuring compliance with
environmental regulations and policies.
• Implement and oversee procedures to prevent pollution and manage waste.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational
Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
• BCSP Certified or able to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles, preferably in
construction.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
• Will be assigned to a project location, but may require occasional travel to different sites
or locations.
• Tolerance for working in various weather conditions and environments, such as
construction sites, manufacturing plants, or remote locations.

and/or hear.
o Ability to move around the workplace, including climbing ladders, walking long
distances, and navigating uneven terrain.
o Capability to work long hours, often on your feet, especially during inspections or
safety drills.
o Ability to hear alarms, warnings, or conversations in noisy environments.
• Skill in using hand tools or safety equipment, and the ability to perform tasks that require
precision.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
• Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or materials, typically weighing up to 50 pounds,
depending on the job site.
• Good eyesight for inspecting work areas, identifying hazards, and reviewing safety
documents.
o Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.
• Able to traverse and work in adverse site conditions: mud, uneven grading, structures
under construction, debris, up and down stairs and other conditions as required when on
a jobsite.
• Capability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, which may involve
physical exertion
