Overview
This position is in the Department of County Human Services, Domestic Violence Coordinator’s office. The purpose of this position is to work collaboratively with the study coordinator and partner agencies to collect data and collate information for a CDC grant funded research project. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an existing innovative housing intervention program compared to usual services. This study uses a quasi-experimental design, with and experimental group and a comparison group. Methods will include in-depth interviews with domestic violence survivors at regular intervals, review of case files, analysis of the costs of additional service sought and provided, including law enforcement, child welfare, health care, housing, and financial assistance. The research assistant will work directly for the Study Coordinator within the Domestic Violence Coordinator’s office; however, will spend time working at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) under the direction of research staff there. This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with some evenings on occasion. Specific duties include: Assist with recruitment of participants into the study and maintaining contact with them over the course of the trial; Adhere to and assist in monitoring Institutional Review Board approved recruitment and implementation protocols; Conduct interviews with study participants; Participate as an active member of the research team and assist with meeting logistics; Assure participants receive funds allocated for reimbursement of time and expertise; Provide technical support to the Manager of the Domestic Violence Coordinator’s Office and the Study Coordinator; Work closely with community members and partners off site 75% of time; Assist in data entry.
To Qualify
Experience: Experience as an intern or research assistant is desirable. Candidates who have experience with the following will be given higher consideration: Interviewing and following detailed research protocols; Knowledge/experience in working with victims of domestic violence and/or research in the field of domestic violence; Excellent computer skills including Access, Excel, and Word. Experience with data entry and other data research tools a plus. AND
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with studies in applied research or evaluation subjects. AND
Other: Bilingual English/Spanish desirable, but not required.
