Machining Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary
This position is responsible for improving manufacturing processes within our machining operation by applying knowledge of machining processes to troubleshoot issues, design work holding, machine design and minor fabrication, tooling, conferring with equipment vendors, and soliciting observations from operators. The Finishing Manufacturing Engineer will own, evaluate, and improve on process related to our machining areas while being responsible for equipment being available and capable to production. This individual will be heavily involved in continuous improvement year over year.

• Mentor interns and MEs as needed
Duties/Responsibilities
• Create capital appropriation requests and manage internal and external projects through full implementation
• Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
• Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
• Confer with vendors to determine specifications of products and arrange the purchase of equipment, material, and spare parts
• Define, redefine, and develop workflows based on capacity and efficiency
• Support new product development work with manufacturability analysis, costing and prototype production
• Create jig and fixture designs utilizing CAD software
• Evaluate products based on specifications and quality standards
• Participate in multifunctional PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

Education And Experience
• BSME required
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
• Computer skills, with experience in Autodesk 3-D design software
• Understanding of metrology and metrology practices
• Strong understanding of GD&T and working in tight tolerances (.00005”)
• Practical Six Sigma and Kaizen experience preferred
• Experience in a high mix/low volume and low mix/high volume manufacturing preferred
• Process development, control and improvement experience preferred
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
