Position Summary The Dental Hygienist is a key preventive provider in our practice, responsible for motivating, educating, and delivering exceptional treatment. Under indirect supervision, the hygienist will remove deposits from teeth, examine oral areas for signs of disease, provide preventative dental care, take X-rays, and apply fluoride or sealants. This role is critical to diagnosing and documenting areas of failure, both periodontally and restoratively, to facilitate the dentist’s treatment recommendations. Key Responsibilities A Day in the Life Working with a driven team of dental professionals. Caring for patients who are treated like family. Providing oral hygiene education and preventive care. Conducting thorough oral health assessments and charting findings. Seeing approximately X number of patients each day. Using advanced technology to deliver high-quality patient care. Contributing to supply and inventory management. Completing opening and closing duties as a team. Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and root planing. Conduct comprehensive periodontal assessments and chart findings. Take and process radiographs (X-rays, CBCT scans, panorex) as required. Apply fluoride treatments and sealants as needed. Educate patients on oral hygiene best practices and preventive care. Assist the dentist in identifying and documenting potential areas of concern. Sterilization & Lab Duties Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and operatory cleanliness. Maintain and prepare hygiene instruments for optimal performance. Follow all OSHA and HIPAA compliance guidelines. Team Collaboration & Office Support Work closely with dentists and assistants to provide seamless patient care. Assist with scheduling, treatment planning, and administrative tasks as needed. Foster a team-oriented atmosphere that supports ProGrin Dental’s mission and values. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree from an ADA-accredited dental hygiene program. Certifications: Current state licensure, CPR certification. Preferred Experience: One year of clinical hygiene experience. Skills: Strong communication, patient education, and clinical proficiency. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, maintain hand-eye coordination, and perform precise dental procedures.
