Description The Division of Humanities at New College of Florida invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy for academic year 2025-26 with the possibility of continuation. AOS: History of philosophy, with expertise in early modern European philosophy and the history of science through primary sources. Willingness to teach in our Great Books interdisciplinary program is desirable. Additional areas of competence are open, but an ability to offer classes in Medieval Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, Metaphysics, Comparative/Non Western philosophy; Philosophy of Mind, and/or Philosophy of Language would be welcome. Appointment effective August 2025. Ph.D. in Philosophy preferred; ABD considered. Teaching load for the first year is two courses in Fall and three in Spring, Instructional work might also include a small number of individual or group tutorials, and January term independent study projects. New College encourages visiting faculty to develop courses that build on their own scholarly expertise in consultation with colleagues.
