Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Outpatient Services to lead our organization in providing exceptional services to individuals with behavioral health needs. The Outpatient Program Director is responsible for managing and directing the activities of an outpatient therapy program in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and facility policy, goals, and objectives. This position contributes to the hospital’s mission, vision, educational and quality improvement efforts, while providing leadership and guidance to the Outpatient Program to include therapists/social workers, nurses, behavioral health technicians and administrative support personnel The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing program development, managing budgets, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to social work principles, and the ability to foster relationships within the community. Required Educational/Experience: Master’s degree in social work, counseling or a clinical related mental health area, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in program management in psychiatric/mental health field. Outpatient Program start-up experience required Licensure: Arizona State LCSW or LPC preferred or LMSW and Licensure as an MSN. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training Thorough knowledge of AZDHS, TJC, CMS, OSHA, state and federal regulatory requirements. Duties Lead and supervise staff in delivering programs and services for individuals in an outpatient and group setting. Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that meet the needs of clients while adhering to regulatory requirements. Manage budgets effectively to ensure financial sustainability and accountability. Foster relationships with stakeholders, including families, community organizations, and government agencies. Provide guidance and support to staff in relationship management and program execution. Oversee administrative functions related to program operations and compliance. Advocate for the needs of individuals served by the organization within the community and relevant sectors. Develop, Maintain and Grow a dynamic Outpatient program that offers Intensive. Outpatient Programming (IOP) that is responsive to the needs of our patients and the community. Ensure adherence to Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management policies. Coordinate, maintain and evaluate the effectiveness of outpatient treatment Monitor medical records for appropriate documentation of outpatient care. Coordinate, Maintain and Evaluate the effectiveness of the group therapy treatment being provided. Evaluate the appropriateness of all medical/psychiatric emergency interventions performed in the program. Skills Strong background in nursing and/or social work with a focus on working with individuals with behavioral health needs. Excellent relationship management skills to build rapport with clients, families, and community partners. Proven experience in supervising teams and managing diverse staff members effectively. Expertise in program management and development to create impactful initiatives. Proficient in budgeting processes to ensure financial integrity of programs. Strong administrative skills to maintain organized records and documentation. Knowledge of behavioral health practices is required.
