Position Overview:
EYA is seeking a Project / Development Accountant (Mini-CFO) for their Bethesda, MD office. In this role, you will oversee the financial aspects of two active construction projects, ensuring that accounting functions are aligned with project goals, timelines, and budgets. You will collaborate closely with project teams involved in land acquisition, development, construction, and warranty, providing strategic financial insight and ensuring effective cash planning, financial reporting, and variance analysis. This role will report directly to the VP of Finance .
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting : Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements for construction projects, ensuring compliance with internal and external financial reporting standards.
• Accounting Management : Manage all accounting and finance functions related to assigned construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking project costs.
• Construction Loan Draws : Oversee and process construction loan draws, ensuring that funds are properly requested and disbursed in accordance with project needs.
• Contract Review : Review construction contracts to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies, making recommendations when necessary.
• Bank Reconciliations : Perform regular bank reconciliations for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies as they arise.
• Job Cost Accounting : Oversee job cost accounting, ensuring that costs are tracked and properly allocated to each project phase.
• Invoice Management : Review and process invoices related to construction projects, ensuring proper documentation and timely approval.
• Budget Variance Analysis : Conduct thorough analysis of budget variances, providing insight into cost overruns or savings, and suggesting corrective actions when needed.
• Journal Entries : Prepare and post monthly journal entries related to project costs, revenue recognition, and other financial adjustments.
• Subcontractor Communication : Serve as the main point of contact for subcontractors, addressing any financial-related concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA license preferred).
• Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public accounting, with a strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost analysis.
