Job Summary The Unit Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of a designated unit within a healthcare facility. This position involves managing patient care, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and leading a team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality services. The Unit Manager will work closely with staff to foster an environment of collaboration and support while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. Duties Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals within the unit. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Oversee patient care plans, including those for individuals requiring dementia care or senior care services. Conduct case management activities to assess patient needs and develop appropriate treatment plans. Manage staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts. Provide training and support to staff on best practices for catheterization, IV insertion, and other clinical procedures. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and enhance service delivery. Monitor unit performance metrics and implement strategies for continuous improvement. Address any issues or concerns raised by patients or staff promptly and effectively. Skills Strong knowledge of dementia care practices and senior care protocols. Proficient in case management techniques and understanding of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems. Experience in team management, fostering a positive workplace culture, and promoting professional development among staff. Familiarity with procedures in a Level I Trauma Center Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members. Ability to perform clinical tasks such as catheterization and IV insertion competently. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple responsibilities.
