Chemist III, Lead
A Chemist III, Lead will perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of raw materials, finished products, and stability samples for nutritional supplements. Serves as the primary technical resource for the chemistry lab. Coordinates and performs daily tests and assists other lab personnel in problem solving. Maintains lab systems and assists lab manager. Reviews and releases reports.
Specific Responsibilities
• Performs chemical testing of incoming raw materials, finished product, and stability samples utilizing instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and ICP/ICPMS.
• Follow cGMPs, cGLPs, Compendia, and SOPs.
• Perform routine maintenance checks/calibration verifications of equipment.
• Support other departments for special projects as requested.
• Gather, interpret, and review analytical data.
• Clean assigned areas of the lab and maintain an audit ready status.
• Able to train others on specific instruments or techniques proficient in.
• Conduct investigations of any out of specification results.
• Assists chemistry lab personnel in problem solving on both wet and instrumental assays.
• Assist in reviewing, validation, updating SOPs, and methodology.
• Serves as the primary technical resource for the lab.
• Assists lab management in lab organization- scheduling, technical development, training, projects, and day to day operations.
• Maintains lab systems such as laboratory equipment assurance programs and all inventories.
• Reviews lab reports and releases results of test specifications.
• Has direct reports and supervises laboratory staff to ensure timely completion of required testing.
• Coordinate daily work schedule for lab.
General Responsibilities

• Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work and must be flexible to assist with workloads without notice of planned/unplanned absences.

Education, Experience, and Licenses
• 7 years’ experience in a cGMP environment, with a proven track record.
• BA or BS Degree in Chemistry or related science.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
• Skilled at analyzing data and summarizing results.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions with a high level of accuracy.
• Must be able to write clear understandable documentation.
• Strong organizational skills to be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide directions to other Chemists.
• Strong change management skills to challenge the status quo and drive improvements.
• Proven leadership skills including the ability to coach, assess, develop, motivate, and empower others.
• Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of general wet chemistry and analytical procedures.
• Must have knowledge of how to work safely with and around chemicals and their potential hazards.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Personal Protective Equipment required lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Respirator required for the removal of waste from the laboratory.
