Sarasota County is currently recruiting for a Crew Leader in our beautiful Siesta Key beaches. In this role, you will manage a team and invest in both your and your team's overall career growth. About the Position
In this role, you will...
• Perform daily safety checks, monitoring the grounds for safety issues, irrigation leaks or landscaping issues, fallen limbs, yard debris, etc.
• Inspect equipment and make determinations on the job site on how to utilize equipment and workforce.
• Perform attendant duties cleaning the beaches, picnic areas, parking lots, open areas, restroom facilities, etc.
• Plan the schedule of maintenance for assigned area(s).
• Coordinate equipment assignments for daily tasks. Examples include small tractors, trash trucks, small pickup trucks, and/or the club car for daily operations at the beaches and special events.
• Assist with special events at the beaches.
• Operate light automotive and landscape equipment, as well as hand tools.
• Instruct subordinates in safety practices and proper procedures for work.
• Keep operating records, complete material requests, service requests, and work orders.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
• 40 hours a week
• Must be available Sunday - Saturday, 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and willing to work on weekdays, weekends as needed.
• Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, emergencies
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• One year of experience in maintenance, construction, or grounds maintenance.
• Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Working with small equipment/engines (i.e., weed-eaters, chainsaws, pumps).

Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
