Job Summary
The Division Food Safety Director is responsible for developing and maintaining all QA programs, meeting FDA, customer, and Corporate requirements, ensuring the quality and safety of supplied goods, and sustaining the Corporate Safety Program. Must have strong knowledge of HACCP, the FDA Food Code, and local regulatory requirements. This position oversees the food safety and quality assurance program for the division dining centers and is responsible for the overall food safety behaviors of those centers. Facilitates the food safety program and maintains technical process-related programs and tools to address education and training needs. Works to integrate food safety compliance into day-to-day operations at multiple levels within the division. A strong background in foodservice, quality assurance, food safety management systems, and regulatory requirements is a must.
Location:
• Must live in the Upstate of South Carolina. This position will office in a local dining center.
• Must be available to travel up to 50% of the time to dining centers in the Southeast Division, including South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
• Non-remote, requires daily onsite presence in a dining center.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contributes to the development and execution of product food safety and quality programs for the division. Ensures all dining locations meet the organization’s goals of operational excellence, customer/client satisfaction, financial performance, market leadership, and preferred employer.
• Ensures all HACCP, GMPs, sanitation preventive controls, supply chain preventive controls, and all other prerequisite food safety standards are met throughout the division according to SCDA, USDA, FDA, FSIS, FSMA, and corporate requirements.
• Manages Allergen Preventive Controls Program, ensuring accurate allergen labeling on finished food products and prevention of allergen cross-contact.
• Oversees the success of all food safety audits conducted by client, government, and third-party agencies.
• Responds to customer safety and quality concerns as needed.
• Monitors, analyzes, and reports on key workplace performance metrics to identify and take action to reduce risk, including tracking third-party safety assessment results, managing safety committees, trainings, compliance, and regulatory inspections.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ample experience required in Quality Assurance and Food Safety manufacturing role.
• Experience in prepared foods manufacturing is a plus.
• HACCP program development and FSMA is a must.
• HACCP certification, Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCQI), and GFSI auditor certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of required third-party audit and GFSI audit scheme programs and standards.
• Working knowledge of food processing and distribution regulations, i.e., FDA and USDA/FSIS, and industry practice.
• Track record of food safety/QA success in any of the following focus areas is a plus: restaurants, catering services, hospitality, meat, poultry, seafood, processed foods, distribution, proprietary/private-label product development, and/or monitoring.
• B.S. degree in food technology, food science, or related curriculum and/or experience preferred.
• Ability to function effectively within a fast-paced, diverse, and evolving corporate culture is necessary.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn various software and web-enabled programs.
• Must be a strong, persuasive communicator and coach, with the ability to relate to other professionals, peers, and field operators, both technical and non-technical.
• Strong data management, reporting, and technical writing skills.
