Compensation Specialist
Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Compensation Specialist to join the firm’s expanding Talent department in our Greenville, South Carolina administrative office. The Compensation Specialist will be responsible for implementing and managing compensation programs. This role ensures that the firm's compensation structures are competitive, equitable, and compliant with applicable law.
Essential Functions
• Working collaboratively as a key member of the HR-Compensation team, develop and manage competitive salary and total compensation structures that align with the firm’s business objectives.
• Provide expert guidance on job evaluation, market benchmarking, and internal equity analysis.
• Lead or contribute to complex ad-hoc compensation projects and initiatives key across the Firm, such as annual salary reviews, incentive plan evaluations, and system implementations.
• Manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful project delivery.
• Evaluate existing compensation processes and identify opportunities to establish or enhance standardized procedures.
• Design and implement scalable, repeatable workflows to improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in compensation operations.
• Represents HR-Compensation in cross-functional teams as a subject matter expert of compensation and rewards.
• Develops, implements, and validates processes and systems to enhance the compliance and accuracy of all aspects of the job evaluation process.
• Evaluate job positions to determine classification, salary grade, and job descriptions.
• Develop and administer salary structures, compensation policies and procedures to ensure they are current and effective.
• Provide data-driven insights to influence decision-making.
• Prepare and present reports on compensation trends, risks, and opportunities to senior HR leadership.
• Provides guidance and counsel to other professionals within Talent to expand the compensation knowledge base and competency of team members.
• Keep current in all aspects of compensation through formal and informal training, participation in local and national professional organizations, continues learning and reading, and general professional curiosity.
• Support job mapping and market pricing as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in HR with a focus on compensation practices.
• Strong knowledge of job evaluation, career framework and salary benchmarking.
• Strong analytical and technical skills including advanced expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees within the Firm.
• Strong interpersonal skills — including excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities in a high-performing, fast paced work environment.
• Highly detail oriented and has strong prioritization skills.
• CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) is a plus.
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is a plus.
