KPMG is currently seeking a Temporary Senior Systems Engineer, VM / UCS for a six-month assignment to join our Digital Nexus technology organization.
Responsibilities:
• Provide administration, maintenance, configuration, and ongoing support of server infrastructure hosting Enterprise Applications; resolve complex enterprise system hardware and software problems; collaborate with peer teams and vendors to coordinate solutions
• Recommend actions for fine tuning and capacity planning of existing systems; maintain up-to-date knowledge of new hardware and software developments; participate in the evaluation of alternative approaches and new software or modifications to enhance operations and development activities
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; interface with business clients and technology staff to implement solutions that meet business needs and addresses impact of new or revised applications on existing infrastructure which includes the installation and testing of new enterprise system software and hardware releases
• Participate in generation and/or implementation of new ideas for enhancements, as well as improvements; work directly with users to prioritize requests and frequently update users to make certain that they are informed of progress and estimated delivery timeframe
• Coordinate and effectively support escalation communication; participate in the development and maintenance of appropriate project technical documentation including design, configuration, installation, operational procedures, knowledge articles, user reference guides, and project plans
• Act as point of escalation for level two support and major incidents, working with vendors to resolve complex technical issues; proactive drive innovation in technical processes and procedures
Qualifications:
• Minimum three years of recent experience in systems administrator, preferably in large Enterprise Level Data Centers
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
• Technical knowledge across various disciplines to resolve complex infrastructure integration issues and problems, as well as interface with multiple vendors to coordinate resolution to both hardware and software problems
• Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work in a high-pressure team environment, handle multiple tasks and react quickly to problems and issues; experience in various editions of ESX/vSphere; work knowledge of Aria Operations, Creating custom reports, Rightsizing, and general monitoring management (integration with Service Now for incident generation)
• Background knowledge of Aria Automation and automating various processes (Disk expands, server builds, automated rightsizing); PowerShell and other scripting languages is a plus
• Experience operating in a large enterprise environment and understanding of implementation of systems at scale; technical skills in Windows Server operating system, Linux Based systems a working knowledge of SANs; experience managing and maintaining Cisco UCS compute platforms
