Job Description
Avenger Aerospace Solutions is seeking an experienced (4 to 8 years) Aircraft Structures Static Strength and Fatigue/Damage Tolerance Engineer to join our team. This position involves the analysis of primary and secondary flight structures including aircraft repair schemes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform detailed structural analysis (static strength, failsafe and/or fatigue and damage tolerance analysis) for aircraft structures pertaining to both general aviation (14 CFR Part 23) and transport category (14 CFR Part 25) aircraft.
· Generate engineering reports as required to support project goals.
· Review junior / peer engineers work for accuracy and technical fundamentals.
· Coordinate with FAA DERs to ensure design meets applicable airworthiness requirements.
· Must be familiar with standard aerospace materials, fabrication and finishing practices and apply these materials and practices when generating engineering data in a clear, concise manner to communicate intent to fabrication/production.
· Must have working knowledge of standard drafting and drawing tolerance practices as they pertain to structural substantiations.
· Must be able to work independently and apply technical capabilities to provide analysis solutions, along with design input to meet applicable load and/or performance requirements. Individual is expected to require minimal supervision in completing tasks.
Education, Experience and Abilities Required:
· Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
· 4 to 8 years of progressive structural analysis experience in the aircraft industry.
· General knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 23 and 25 regulations.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Ability to balance multiple tasks and meet prescribed deadlines.
· Ability to work well with other team members.
· Ability to receive feedback from team members in a positive manner.
· Ability to travel for short periods (typically one week or less) in conjunction with anticipated assignments.
Additional Experience considered a Plus:
· Proficiency in design software (such as CATIA or SolidWorks).
· Proficiency in interpretation of technical drawings and solid model properties.
· Finite Element Model (FEM) construction and evaluation for various aircraft structures.
· Fatigue and Damage Tolerance methods and analyses.
Position Particulars:
· This is a long-term on-site contract position in Greenville, SC (non-remote).
· Pay rate will be commensurate with experience level and competitive with industry.
