Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience Required
EITHER I
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a behavioral science field such as psychology, counseling or social work.
OR II
Two years of experience providing client related services to persons experiencing mental health, drug abuse or alcohol disorders. Education in a behavioral science field such as psychology, counseling, or social work may be substituted for up to one year of the experience requirement on the basis of 30 semester units or 45 quarter units for one year of experience.
Responsibilities Include
• Providing outreach to homeless, mentally ill persons in a number of settings.
• Establish, and maintain a trusting relationship
• Maintain personal safety at all times
• Present program information in neutral manner
• Follow principals of Harm Reduction in outreach efforts
• Complete required documentation in required time frame
• Ask when needed and follow- direction of assigned AB2034 mentor outreach worker

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH GROUP
Physical Characteristics: Vision sufficient to read standard text, read a computer monitor and to drive; speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably in person, over the telephone and in small groups; independent body mobility to stand, sit, walk, stoop, and bend to access a standard office environment; manual dexterity to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard, to write and drive a vehicle.
Environmental Conditions: Will be required to interact with clients/patients in emotional and occasionally hostile situations; work in an office environment and/or a secure facility; drive to community sites and to meetings; occasionally work evenings/weekends to attend meetings/special events.
Selection Procedure
The County of Orange Health Care Agency Human Resources will screen application materials to identify the candidates who represent the expertise most needed for the position.
