Under the supervision of the Bureau Director (Program Manager III) or the Bureau Deputy Director (Program Manager III), exercises authority and discretion to achieve Agency objectives regarding emergency preparedness and response as defined by Agency leadership and/or as described in approved workplans:
• Serve as the Upstate Regional Section Director for the Bureau of Emergency Preparedness and Response (BEPR).
• Provide guidance and advisement to regional staff and outside partners on cooperative agreements between DPH and various federal agencies.
• Assist in the creation of strategic goals and objectives of the Bureau which have direct connection to those of the Agency.
• Provide subject matter expertise to internal and external partners for the benefit of creating plans, procedures, standards, and/or policies which align with best practices in public health emergency preparedness, and which improve disaster outcomes for the residents and visitors of the State.
• Provide direct supervision to Upstate Bureau staff, to include oversight of performance objectives, counseling and coaching as needed, and the performance of disciplinary action when needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least five (5) years of program management experience in emergency management, emergency preparedness, emergency medical services, or similar, with at least three of those years in a supervisory position.

Preferred Qualifications International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM ) Certified Emergency Manager or South Carolina Certified Emergency Management Association ( SCEMA) credentials are preferred but not required.
Additional Comments DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
