MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five years of increasingly responsible experience; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION :   The Technology Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of the technology department.  Displays strong communication, analytical, and problem solving skills to ensure the District’s technology department is meeting the educational needs of students, staff, and family members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Plan, organize, direct and schedule computer operations, data control and data entry.
• Coordinate unit operations with the Director of Maintenance/Facilities and Technology in determining hardware and software needs and development plans to meet District objectives and needs.
• Assist in long- and short-range planning for the information services department.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, instructors, students and employees.
• Learn new computer techniques and programs from documentation and oral descriptions.
• Plan and organize work.
• Work under strict timelines.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Prioritize and schedule work.
• Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance
• Adheres to the professional code of ethics
• Train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan, organize, schedule and supervise work of computer operations, data security and data control; coordinate operations with the Director of Maintenance/Facilities and Technology in determining hardware and software needs and development plans to meet District objectives and needs.
• Allocate technical and operational resources to meet District and school goals.
• Assist in long- and short-range planning for the information services department; assist in determining future needs in personnel, equipment and supplies for the department and District.
• Direct the software environment to assure adequate and continued operational support; provide structure to assure adequate hardware and software capabilities in a production environment.
• Provide consultation in the design and implementation of new or modified systems; develop, modify and maintain procedures and controls to assure the accuracy of a variety of data.
• Evaluate and assist in software and hardware platforms before placing them in a production environment. Ensure documentation of systems, configurations, and setup of all systems are in place and up to date
• Coordinate with vendors to maintain system, both hardware and software, to assure accessibility; schedules preventive and corrective maintenance; review attempted accesses to the system to assure security.
• Plan, coordinate and schedule the use of computer facilities; prepare and maintain systems providing for maintenance and repair as required.
• Respond to emergency calls as necessary regarding technology issues and respond accordingly.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems; communicate with users to assure accuracy and timeliness of data needs and to resolve hardware or software problems.
• Maintain “the environment” to promote security,safety, and reliability of Owensboro Public Schools hardware and software.
• Maintain password security practices for authorized access to computers and local area networks.
• Maintain data integrity of all on premises and off premises systems including but not limited to databases, users, backups,and other systems data.
• Maintain proper record keeping for hardware and software inventory.
• Ensure proper backup of user and system data to maintain data integrity to prevent data loss.
• Establishes departmental goals and objectives; recommends policies for Board action; determines priorities and implements changes to meet goals and objectives to maximize system efficiency and cost effectiveness
• Formulates purchase specifications and authorizes expenditures for technology operations.
• Cooperates with school principals and others responsible for technology needs.
• Takes an active role in solving technology problems occurring within the District.
• Coordinates informational meetings within the department.
• All other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor, CFOO and Superintendent.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Subject to both indoor, environmentally controlled and outdoor environments.  Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises.  Travel amongst building locations required.  Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.  This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment.
