Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Grants Development Specialist position assists all Public Service and Outreach ( PSO ) units with identifying and securing funding opportunities to support the mission of the PSO . The specialized grant development expertise of this position is crucial given that PSO units generate 70 percent of their operating budgets through external funding sources. This individual will proactively research and assess high-value funding opportunities from agencies, foundations, and other sources, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities. By building and fostering collaborative relationships within PSO , across campus, and with external partners, the incumbent will drive successful grant development and submission processes. The role includes facilitating the development of collaborative grant proposals, monitoring progress throughout the application process, and providing ongoing education and guidance to faculty and staff regarding grant management best practices. The position will also be responsible for creating and maintaining an efficient, transparent, and accessible proposal development process. Through close collaboration with stakeholders and campus entities, the Grants Development Specialist will ensure that PSO's grant strategy aligns with both university and PSO funding goals.

• Convening and Leading Teams : Skilled in convening and leading teams, coordinating efforts, and ensuring timely task completion.
• Technical and Facilitation Skills : Ability to facilitate meetings and discussions effectively to drive collaboration and decision-making within teams. Advanced technical proficiency in Teams, Outlook, Zoom, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to ensure seamless communication and collaboration across the teams.
• Project Management : Skilled in planning, executing, and overseeing proposal development from identification of funding opportunity to submission, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and technically responsive to the funding opportunity.
• Time Management : Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and efficiently allocate time to meet project goals and objectives.
• Strong Communication Skills: Skilled in clearly, confidently, and persuasively communicating complex information about PSO's strengths, resources, and capabilities both in writing and verbally, while aligning messaging with the organization's values, priorities, and mission to diverse stakeholders. Ability to represent the PSO in meetings related to grant funding opportunities/proposal enhancements.
• Grant Management : Comprehensive understanding of the entire grant lifecycle, from proposal submission to post-award compliance. Skilled in identifying and evaluating grant opportunities, assessing eligibility, and aligning projects with institutional goals. Experienced in creating and analyzing grant budgets to ensure funding requirements are met.
• Grant Writing : In-depth understanding of the grant writing process, including developing proposals, articulating program goals, preparing budgets, and responding to funding requirements for the purpose of facilitating collaborative grants and assigning writing, editing writing, reviewing, editing tasks to proposal team members.
• Knowledge of University/Higher Education : Familiarity with the structure, operations, and culture of higher education institutions, particularly regarding academic priorities, funding processes, and institutional policies.

Develop and Document a Collaborative Proposal Process
• Establish and document a clear, effective process for managing collaborative grant submissions within PSO .
• Ensure the process is efficient, transparent, and accessible to all relevant stakeholders, and update regularly as needed.
