A Day in the Life of a Project Controls Manager
As a Project Controls Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the projects are well-planned, executed, and controlled from a financial and schedule perspective. You’ll lead and supervise a team of professionals in project controls, providing the necessary resources and ensuring projects stay on track. Your expertise will directly impact project delivery, helping to meet client expectations while ensuring company objectives are achieved.
Responsibilities include:
• Meet with the VP Project Services and project leadership to align on project objectives
• Support in the creation and maintenance of Project Monthly Reports
• Supervise project controls personnel, cost control specialists, schedulers, and estimators
• Ensure the proper resources are in place to support project controls activities
• Establish and maintain project controls standards and procedures with input from other managers
• Assist the Project Director in reporting project status to the EVP and Board of Directors
• Lead the effort in cost and schedule forecasting, and manage the change management system
• Develop and maintain the project schedule, ensuring accurate reporting from contractors
• Oversee the management of project contingency and risk
• Periodically review project progress and financial performance with the Project Director and client
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Proven experience in project controls or a related field
• Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams in a project environment
• Solid understanding of cost control, scheduling, and project reporting
• Experience with project management tools and software
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving issues
• A background in engineering, construction, or a related discipline is preferred
• Degree required
• Availability for 30-50% travel
