Advertised Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, The Executive Director of Finance & Operations is the key strategic business advisor and administrative lead to senior leadership at University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville ( SOMG ) administering the business operations and finance functions of the school. Directs all budget, finance, contracting, IT, marketing, facilities, and education support functions of assuring sound fiscal principles, prudent financial management, and efficient high-quality support. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and at least 8 years of job related experience, including some prior management experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Understanding of GAAP , financial reporting and budgeting, and accounting. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

In close collaboration with the SOMG Dean, directs all operational infrastructure support of SOMG to support and strengthen the educational and outreach programs. As a member of the leadership team, guides development of policies, procedures, and processes that contribute to continuous improvement and operational effectiveness, emphasizing high quality metrics, proper forecasting, cost containment, and effective problem resolution. Functional areas of responsibility include Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, Information Technology, and Communications.

Prepares comprehensive analysis and reports for internal and external review, to include the School’s State Budget Submission, and reports to the President and the University Board of Trustees. Supervises the development of computer models to facilitate entry, management, and monitoring of budgets. Responsible for budget revisions, revenue projections, and adjustments as required. Responsible for special financial analysis and complex reports for presentation to University Administration, Liaison Committee on Medical Education ( LCME ), American Association of Medical Colleges ( AAMC ), and the Commission on Higher Education ( CHE ).
