Job Summary
Responsible for providing knowledge and support of the Baker Act (mental health laws of the State of Florida) and ensuring that the Florida Statutes (394) and Administrative Law (65E5) are adhered to regarding patients under the Baker Act. Completes and processes Baker Act forms and filing same with the Circuit Court of Sarasota County. Tracks all admissions to and discharges from the Cornell Behavioral Health Pavilion, advising staff of time remaining for patient evaluations, and a wide variety of specialized duties pertaining to the Baker Act.
Required Qualifications
• Require knowledge of Baker Act Statutes and Administrative Law.
• Require the ability to obtain a level 2 AHCA clearance.
• Require minimum of one (1) year of experience working with psychiatric patients or in a bevavioral health setting.
• Require certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention within three (3) months of hire.

• Prefer the ability to use a personal computer and related software programs including accessing the intranet/internet.
• Prefer excellent administrative, interpersonal communication and organization skills.
• Prefer the ability to coordinate a multitude of tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Prefer the ability to be self-motivated and work independently and shift priorities with flexibility
• Prefer the ability to provide exceptional customer service skills.
• Prefer the ability to work with behavioral health patients.
• Prefer the ability to train staff members and physicians regarding Baker Act statutes.
• Prefer the ability to deescalate high risk patients.
