System Engineer
Summary: The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, supporting, managing, and maintaining all aspects of the systems and network infrastructure. This position requires a strong background in Azure, Linux, SQL DB, IBM SAN storage, and Cisco technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following: other duties may be assigned satisfactorily.
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows servers (both physical and virtual) to ensure uptime and performance.
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux, mainly Red Hat Enterprise Linux, servers (both physical and virtual) to ensure uptime and performance.
• Responsible for Office365 ecosystem/platform.
• Cloud technologies. Develop, enhance, maintain, and support cloud-based server and application initiatives.
• Administer and manage our Azure cloud environment, including virtual machines, network configurations, and security settings.
• Knowledgeable in SQL database environment, performing maintenance tasks and optimizations, and ensuring data integrity and security.
• Administer and maintain IBM SAN storage solutions, ensuring high performance and data availability.
• Deploy, configure, and manage VMware virtualization environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter operations.
• Design, implement, and manage complex enterprise network solutions using Cisco technologies, ensuring high availability, redundancy, and optimal performance.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices, recommending improvements to systems and processes.
• Evaluate hardware and software to meet user requirements; make written and verbal recommendations for user or management review.
• Establish working relationships with internal teams to understand, prioritize, and effectively deliver IT support requests and projects
• Establish processes and metrics to help identify areas of improvement
• Monitors systems for acceptable performance and user accessibility.
• Prepares technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines, and critical paths for complete solutions.
• Provide 24x7 support and participate in on-call rotation for critical production systems.
Qualifications :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent knowledge, skill, and ability.
• 5+ years’ experience in Windows Server administration/management of modern Windows Server.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or similar ones.
• Demonstrated experience with Azure cloud services, Linux server administration, SQL database management, IBM SAN solutions, and VMware virtualization.
• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, IP routing, VPNs, firewalls, and security practices.
• Knowledge of Cisco switching, routers, and firewall stacks
• Knowledge of Zoom portal and workplace
• Knowledge with Cisco Meraki (SD-WAN and Switching)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience
• Preferred certifications: VMware, Microsoft, and Cisco Certifications
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position constantly.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Occasionally, light lifting may require up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
• Office environment.
• Occasional travel may be required.
