This position is located at:   Greater Greenville Mental Health Center

Under general supervision exercises medical/psychiatric responsibility for the offices of the Greater Greenville Mental Health Center and related Child and Adolescent programs. Interviews evaluates, examines, diagnoses and provides treatment and treatment plans for patients; supervises treatment done by non-medical staff; performs professional duties requiring analysis of broad problems and planning of various activities within the Center. GGMHC will work closely with the USC School of Medicine – Greenville to assist in providing clinical rotations for medical students and psychiatry residents.
• Provides outpatient and aftercare examinations and diagnostic and treatment services to mental ill patients and their families, including medications.
• Provides medical leadership to staff in initial staffing of patients in diagnosing and developing the plan of care and supervises non-medical staff in carrying out planned treatment program.
• Supervises, coordinates and manages all medical staff practicing at GGMHC.
• Evaluates walk-in emergencies and performs screening and evaluation for courts, law enforcement, and supervises planning for emergency stabilization.
• Provides consultation to other staff, community physicians and community agencies. Provides rotation in psychiatry for current medical students and residents at the USC school of Medicine- Greenville. Now serving as director of community psychiatry training for the new Psychiatry Residency Training program which involves development of full didactic curriculum, as well as clinical rotation experience with direct clinical and academic supervision of residents.
• Adheres to all Corporate Compliance, Outcome Evaluation, Research and Continuity of Care Policies and procedures.  Maintains documentation of clinical services in accordance with State/Center/Quality Assurance standards.
• Provides staff education, medical student and psychiatric resident training, as needed.
• Performs other related duties including peer review, as required; attends necessary meetings.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Licensed to practice medicine in SC; completion of required residency and (2) years direct patient care experience.  Board certification preferred.
