Financial Analyst
Job Title: Financial Analyst - Inventory & Asset management (Manufacturing)
Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Financial Analyst with a focus on inventory management to join our finance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing inventory-related financial data and ensuring cost-effective inventory management practices. The Financial Analyst will critically analyze data compared to material usage standards and provide input to support corrective and preventive actions, financial decision-making, improving inventory control, and turnover. This position reports directly to the Plant Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inventory Analysis & Reporting:
• Analyze and report on total inventory levels, turnover ratios, and trends.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on inventory costs, for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods and MRO.
• Track and report on key inventory metrics such as days of inventory, material usage variances, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory aging.
• Costing & Valuation:
• Assist in inventory valuation and cost accounting, ensuring that inventory is accurately valued based on the standard costing method.
• Monitor and assess inventory-related costs, including material handling, warehousing, shrinkage, obsolescence, and handling costs.
• Work with the procurement and production teams to understand the impact of inventory fluctuations on overall cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Variance Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
• Perform monthly variance analysis of inventory-related financial metrics and verify the key drivers identified behind discrepancies.
• Participate in inventory teams and assess inventory cycle counting monthly, quarterly, and for the full year.
• Collaborate with the operations, procurement, and finance teams to develop corrective actions for inventory variances within the supply chain
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in inventory processes, control measures, and financial reporting.
• ERP & Inventory Systems Management:
• Maintain accurate data in the ERP system related to inventory movements, including purchases, production, and sales.
• Ensure that inventory records are up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with physical counts and financial reports.
• Support the implementation or improvement of inventory management computational systems and work processes.
• Audit & Compliance:
• Assist with internal audits and external financial audits to ensure compliance with inventory-related accounting standards and company policies.
• Maintain proper documentation for inventory transactions and support audit requests.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial reporting standards related to inventory management.
• Owner for asset record accuracy and tracking of site capital assets
• Partner with departments to conduct monthly asset audits to complete site wide status quarterly.
• Execute fixed asset disposal orders, asset move orders, and asset transfer orders.
• Maintain a strong system for communication with internal and external resources such as auditors.
• Maintain the site capital asset register to be up to date and accurate
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with the procurement, operations, and supply chain teams to align financial and operational goals.
• Provide inventory-related financial insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.
• Support the management team with data-driven recommendations for inventory planning, production scheduling, and procurement strategies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or a related field or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a focus on inventory.
• Strong proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, including ERP systems (e.g., Oracle NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex inventory-related financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and contribute to process improvements.
