Position Title: Banquet Manager
Reports to: Private Events Manager
Supervises: Banquet Staff
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
The Banquet Manager oversees the planning. Organization, and execution of all banquets, private events, and member functions at GCC. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality service, coordinating with the events teams, and managing banquet staff to deliver exceptional member and guest experiences. The Banquet Manager will work closely with the Clubhouse Manager and Private Events Manager, BOH staff, and event organizers to ensure that every event exceeds expectations and runs smoothly from start to finish.
Essential Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
Trust & Teamwork
• Lead and manage the banquet staff, including captains, servers, bartenders, and setup teams, ensuring they work together to provide seamless service
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and event teams to ensure smooth coordination of food and beverage service for all events
• Mentor, train, and develop banquet staff, fostering a team-oriented culture and supporting their professional growth and performance
• Establish clear roles and responsibilities for staff before each event, ensuring that all team members are aligned and prepared to meet expectations
Effective Communication
• Act as the primary point of contact for event organizers and clients, ensuring all details of the event are understood and communicated effectively to the team
• Maintain open lines of communication with the culinary team, ensuring proper coordination of food preparation, service timing, and presentation
• Engage with club members and guests during events to ensure satisfaction, addressing any issues or special requests promptly and professionally
• Lead pre-event meetings with staff to review event orders, timelines, and any special instructions, ensuring all team members are prepared
Innovation
• Collaborate with the events team to enhance the guest experience, contributing creative ideas for event themes, setups and service styles
• Continuously evaluate service standards and implement new processes or technologies to improve efficiency and member satisfaction
• Monitor industry trends in event management and banquet service, implementing innovative practices to keep GCC’s offerings competitive
• Develop and implement improved operational procedures to enhance the quality and efficiency of banquet services, from setup to service to breakdown
Balance & Appreciation
• Ensure all events are executed on time and within budget, balancing high service standards with operational efficiency and financial objectives
• Recognize and reward the efforts of staff after successful events, fostering a culture of appreciation and teamwork with the banquet team
• Maintain inventory and supplies for banquet operations, ensuring all equipment and materials are available and in working condition while managing costs
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, balancing operational needs with a commitment to a safe and healthy work environment
Education And/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, or related field, preferred
• 3+ years of experience in banquet management, catering, or event coordination preferable in a private club, luxury hotel, or upscale venue setting
• Proven experience in managing large-scale events, including weddings, corporate functions, and member events
• ServSafe Certification, preferred or ability to obtain

• Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously, balancing the demands of each event while maintaining high standards of service
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events, including overseeing setup, service, and breakdown
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate GCC’s event schedule
Candidate Qualifications
• Passion for hospitality and event management, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional service to members and guests
• Proven experience managing large-scale banquet or catering operations, with a focus on delivering high-quality, memorable events
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and quickly adapt to changes or challenges during events
• Proficiency in event management software and POS systems
• Commitment to continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to enhance service delivery and member satisfaction
• Ability to manage a large team and maintain high levels of service across multiple events
