EXTRUSION PRODUCTION MANAGER
Reports to: Plant Manager for production scheduling and to Principal Polymer Scientist for product and process quality
Job Summary:
The Extrusion Production Manager oversees the extrusion department and coordinates all production activities and operations. This is a “hands-on” role to ensure manufacturing processes and products meet quality standards and run smoothly, efficiently, and within budget. Individuals in this position must have a strong background in manufacturing and production management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety, and is responsible to ensure the extrusion team meets plant and department objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a “Safety First” culture by ensuring all teammates is trained in and fully participate in- RWDC’s safety process
• Set and manage schedule for plant production based on product development and customer needs while owning internal communication to plant leadership about department operations that impact product development and customer needs.
• Provide leadership to a diverse group of production teammates while establishing a working environment that promotes open communications, teamwork and individual engagement to accomplish goals and objectives
• Manage the team for high performance and continuous development, ensuring that training, goal setting, and performance management are regular and consistent.
• Develop and manage department budget while analyzing variances and implementing solutions to control costs.
• Work cross functionally with Quality, engineering, R&D, and other stakeholders to set and achieve department objectives in line with company strategy and customer expectations.
• Actively participate in relevant expansion planning meetings to ensure proper department scaling.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial polymer extrusion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with focus in Word, Excel, Teams and One Note
• Minimum of 1 year of extrusion experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
• Experience with common physical and mechanical property testing methods and instrumentation for polymeric materials.
• Minimum 3 years management experience
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing departmental KPIs
