Description
Looking for 20-30 hours of work per week? The Lynchburg Public Library needs someone to work a varied schedule that includes days, evenings and every other Saturday. Must be dependable, self-motivated, a team player, and able to do physically demanding work. THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND POSITION.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties to provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned.
• Shelves books, magazines, newspapers and various audio-visual formats;
• Retrieves magazines to fulfill patron requests;
• Makes sure materials are in the correct order on shelves;
• Assists with use of microfilm and the operation of microfilm machines including loading paper and toner and changing bulbs;
• Picks up items for in-house use count using a computer;
• Changes status of books using computer;
• Pulls items to fulfill hold requests;
• Searches for lost and missing items;
• Shifts books to different locations as directed;

Education And Experience
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
Must be able to accurately file alphabetically and numerically; walk and stand almost constantly; regularly lift up to 25 pounds and move up to 100 pounds using a handcart; bend low and reach high when shelving; interact well with the public; pay attention to details; understand and follow oral and written directions
