General Description This position provides general technical support to end users, regarding the use of computer systems hardware, software and related technologies. Additionally, this position serves as technical consultant to various constituencies regarding the selection and use of appropriate technologies. Work is performed under the direction of the Police IT Manager.
Essential Job Functions • Provide timely and accurate technical guidance and consultation to end users, including business process improvements through the use of technology.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, printers, scanners, laptops, tablets, software, audio/visual equipment and various other technology platforms.
• Respond to Service Desk phone calls and emails and enter service tickets into work management system.
• Perform maintenance on computer hardware, software, and other associated equipment.
• Provide technical hardware and software support and consultation to end users and colleagues.
• Perform system management using tools such as Active Directory and Group Policy, PowerShell, scripting languages and others.
• Use work management system to deploy software packages and updates throughout the organization.
• Deploy computer images for a variety of operating systems and platforms.
• Provide recommendations regarding technology product selection, procurement and implementation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Perform testing and evaluations of various technologies.
• Document service events for internal controls and reporting purposes.
• Manage user accounts in a variety of systems.
• Ability to effectively and discreetly handle confidential information.
• Provide excellent customer service to all constituencies, including staff and the public.

Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.

• Skilled in use of computers for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
• Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other employees and the general public.

Physical Activities: The work is light: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Additional requirements include: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking. (Occasional=1-3 Hrs; Frequent=3-5 Hrs; Constant=5-8 Hrs – Per Work Day)
Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications Education and Experience:
• Prefer a candidate with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or a combination of post-secondary technical education.
• Two (2) years of direct experience in a relevant information technology position.
(A comparable amount of relevant training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)
Licenses and Certifications:
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
• Will be required to submit to a State and National Criminal Background Investigation.
• Prefer CompTIA A+ Certification.

Hiring Range Statement
Please note, the hiring pay range for this position is the minimum up to a rate equal to or less than the midpoint of the salary range.
