General Description
Under general supervision, perform clerical work relating to the processing of criminal traffic files. Perform cashier functions as required.
Examples Of Duties (Essential Functions)
Receive criminal traffic and infraction documents for processing. Check, analyze and classify materials according to departmental policies and practices. Generate computer notices and calendars according to established policies and practices, mail notices to all parties connected with a case according to the rules and regulations as established by Florida Statute. Case connect files, generate SPNs for attorneys and book in non-arrest cases into the CJIS system. Prepare, sign and seal subpoenas, warrants, notices and affidavits. Prepare copies of documents and/or certified copies for governmental agencies and customers. Submit copies of written Pleas of Not Guilty to State Attorney's office. Provide customer assistance to individuals requesting non-technical information. Answer inquiries in person or in written correspondence, conduct research of records for information related to inquiries and record searches.Obtain driving history (901s) on all defendants; Clear suspensions when defendant has complied with the law. Prepare the weekly traffic calendars for the judiciary, assure that all cases are accounted for and disburse copies of the calendar to other agencies. Supply copies of 901's and copies of all tickets to State Attorney's Office. Perform other duties as required.
Typical Qualifications And Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of office procedures, business English, spelling and arithmetic. Ability to perform mathematical calculations with accuracy. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when necessary. Ability to learn numerous codes, definitions and legal terminology. Knowledge of Florida Statutes, Rules of Traffic Procedure and operational rules, regulations and policies to assigned area of responsibility. Graduation from high school or possession of an accredited equivalency diploma plus two years experience in clerical work, preferably one year with a local government entity or business school with training in legal procedures. A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. A valid Florida drivers license is required.

Skill in the operation of a calculator, CRT and general office equipment. No supervisory responsibility. Ability to meet the public and to deal effectively with their problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers, employees and officials or other departments or offices. Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain complex records and files. Computer entries must be accurate and up-to-date as information on the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) is reported to other governmental agencies. Routinely processes/handles confidential records. May sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to concentrate on repetitious tasks for long periods of time. Normal office surroundings.
