Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Accounting Analyst II at our Salina, KS location.
The Accounting Analyst II position assists with the timely and accurate preparation of the company’s financial statements and other internal financial reporting through a variety of accounting functions such as the production of accounting schedules, intermediate and complex journal entries, and research and application of accounting guidance.
• Compile advanced accounting entries such as those related to purchase accounting, low-income housing tax credit investments, and derivatives.
• Prepare entries for affiliates and intercompany activities, including eliminations.
• Analyze and communicate financial statement events with clarity, answering questions regarding GAAP treatment as needed.
• Maintain financial reports and general ledger classifications.
• Preparing & remitting various tax payments and returns as required Estimating the impact on financial statements of regulatory amendments, business model alterations, software conversions, etc.
• Prepare roll-forward schedules and review logically and for accuracy. Present the information in the schedules as needed to various audiences.
• Prepare new or ad hoc reports for senior management as requested.
• Prepare schedules for regulatory reporting and annual financial statements.
• Comply with designed control environment to reduce/eliminate the potential for misstatements.
• Assist with periodic audits and regulatory exam requests.
• Cross train on multiple duties within the accounting department.
• Attend and complete all mandatory and regulatory bank training.
• Maintain confidentiality of internal and external customer information as well as bank information.
• Maintain effective business relationships with those with whom business is conducted, both inside and outside of the bank, including co-workers, customers, vendors, and others.
• Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
• Uphold Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in accounting preferred.
• 2 - 4 years of accounting experience, ideally with a bank or similar financial institution.
• Experience with Fiserv Signature and Prologue preferred.
• Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the aptitude to effectively learn company-specific accounting and operations systems.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and various departments throughout the company.
• Must be flexible in accepting tasks, take ownership of assigned duties, and catch on to new concepts quickly.
• Must be able to research issues or processes independently and provide recommended solutions or enhancements.
• Must possess attention to detail, demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues as well as strong organizational and communication skills.
