General Information Work Location: Powel Crosley Estate, 8374 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34243 Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (Possible weekends and holidays due to events). Coordinates activities of staff and event personnel before, during, and after meetings, conventions, and sporting events at the Bradenton Area Convention Center (BACC), the Powel Crosley Estate, and/or the Premier Sports Campus. BRADENTON AREA CONVENTION CENTER AND POWEL CROSLEY ESTATE: Performs special design work, both theatrical and lighting, for Bradenton Area Convention Center (BACC) and Powel Crosley Estate. Operates marquee and computerized lighting, cooling, heating, design, and word processing systems. May coordinate contracted events at the Bradenton Area Convention Center and Powel Crosley Estate. Working Conditions Indoor/Outdoor situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. alone and up to 75 lbs. with assistance. Able to reach, bend, stoop and squat. Visual acuity, ability to hear and identify sounds. Able to perform strenuous work inside and outside under varying (including extreme) weather/temperature conditions. Regularly required to work other than normal business hours. Job Description Essential Functions These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Leads a team of event personnel before, during, and after assigned events at the Bradenton Area Convention Center (BACC), the Powel Crosley Estate, and/or the Premier Sports Campus. Assigns daily work to staff and monitors progress. Cultivates strong working relationships and builds trust among team members. Ensures facilities, services, and equipment are ready for events. Determines tasks to be performed and personnel required for each event. Schedules and contacts crew members. Oversees events set up, tear down, and clean up. Manages crew members before, during, and after events. Ensures quality and customer service standards are met. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and laws. Resolves any problems that arise. Assists in setting up, testing, and operating portable technical equipment. Determines electrical needs. Assists in the repair and replacement of portable lighting, sound, and electrical equipment used for events. Operates sound and lighting equipment during events. Prepares required billings and reports. Collects cash payments from lessees. Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) or more years of experience working in a high-volume event facility such as a convention center, theater, or banquet hall. Experience in food and beverage and events operations desired. Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire. More Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized. Able to resolve situations and problems that may require analysis and interpretation. Good knowledge of department policies, rules, regulations and operating procedures. Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities. Good knowledge and understanding of all County computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties. Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with staff, volunteers, officials, vendors, and the general public. Able to explain policies, practices, and procedures for clarity and understanding by direct reports and other stakeholders. Works under limited supervision for routine situations.
