Lab Specialist Lv 1
The LLab Specialist Level I for the PGTI iLab Glass is responsible for operating equipment and performing functions to produce high quality glass newly designed for iLab business purposes. The Specialist will work in all areas of production involved with producing glass designed by the iLab. The specialist will have background knowledge in glass quality, and production. The specialist will be able to perform safely, and efficiently following the work instruction in each area involved with iLab glass production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary:60%
• Perform Key production role safely, and efficiently with quality in mind
• Follow work instructions for the glass production process
• Follow preset operator care procedures
• Ensure products conform to design intent and meets defined quality standards
• Work though all processes in the key area to support team efficiency
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Ensure equipment is clean and safe
Secondary- 30%
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment when planned
• Establish best practices, and assist in training when the time comes to move the product to another facility for full time production
• Learn all processes in iLab glass production
• Communicate safety concerns to supervisor
Other: 10%
• Learn to coordinate glass for shipping purposes
• Collaborate with engineering to learn new processes for new designs
• Crosstrain in areas to become a form of support to help with staffing production
• Understand process improvement opportunities from a safety, quality, and efficiency standpoint
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES NONE

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Hands-on mechanical skills required - working knowledge of tools such as, glass cutters, edging machine, Burkle oven, and IG line required
• Ability to handle multiple glass products on the same line
• Experience driving a Forklift preferred
• Experience in glass production
LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent verbal skills
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Strong mathematical skills
REASONING ABILITY Ability to recognize equipment/fabrication anomalies, and trouble shoot.

• Ability to stand for long hours
• Ability to wear PPE- Glass jackets, safety glasses, glass gloves, chaps, steal toe shoes etc.
• Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment
• Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
• Lifting on manufacturing floor of glass
• Manufacturing floor performing cutting, lamination, and assembly of glass and equipment upkeep.
